Bedrijfsomschrijving
Design & Forming Centre makes your 3D sheet metal shapes come alive. We can assist you from design to production phase to obtain a feasible part or product according to your needs.
We specialise in sheet metal solutions. We optimise sheet metal parts and (sub) assemblies, and make prototypes as well as small series. The optimisation can exist of stiffness and/or strength improvement, vibration optimisation, material selection and thickness reduction, etc. We have several forming methods to create functional prototypes and even small series up to a few 1000 parts.
Value creation is a key objective for DFC, and often the creation of value can be expressed as cost reduction: that is, how much the customer saves by implementing the results of a DFC study.
The majority of our customers are in the industrial sector, ranging from manufacturers of metallic furniture, to heating and ventilation equipment producers, to parts supplier for harvester machines.
The Design & Forming Centre (DFC) was created in 2008 as a joint venture between OCAS and ArcelorMittal’s Total Offer Processing (TOP) business unit, part of ArcelorMittal’s distribution solutions, supplying steel components and sub-assemblies according to customer specifications. OCAS - a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and the Flemish Region – is an advanced, market oriented research centre providing steel and metal-based products, services and solutions to metal processing companies worldwide.
As a centre of excellence for the design and forming (cutting, bending, stamping) of metal parts and sub-assemblies, the DFC provides services to ArcelorMittal TOP and its customers, as well as to third parties.
The Design and Forming Centre calls on the knowledge and expertise both within and outside OCAS and ArcelorMittal TOP to intervene at a number of points along the course of a project: from the design phase, to the engineering phase (in which the functional design is optimised), to making prototypes and even supplying small series production.
